The Director
Daniel Jamieson is a native of Florence, Alabama. He attended
Bradshaw High School (later to become Florence High School). He
holds a B.S. Degree in Commercial Music and a M.A. in Music Education, both
from the University of North Alabama.
He comes from a family with strong musical roots. He began his
formal music education in the 3rd grade on piano. He played
saxophone and guitar through high school. In college, he learned to
play the 'cello. He has also had extensive experience in choirs
throughout childhood, high school and college. After graduating
college, he realized that he was being called to music education.
Shortly, thereafter he took the post of orchestra director with
Florence City Schools.
Mr. Jamieson serves as treasurer of the
Alabama Orchestra Association (AMEA/MENC) and is an active member of the
American String Teachers Association. He is currently a member of the
Shoals Symphony at UNA, and is active in the music ministry of his
church as a 'cellist and guitarist. He also offers private instruction and performs at weddings, etc.
